Gerald Wang

Gerald Wang is a Program Manager for the IDC Asia/Pacific Government Insights research and advisory programs. In this role, Gerald draws on more than a decade of research experiences in enterprise IT with targeted focuses in strategic planning, operational enhancements, programs and policy development, and innovative technologies unique to the public sector. Previously, Gerald served as a civil servant with the Info-Communications Authority of Singapore; a globally-leading ICT statutory board. For three years under the Government CIO Wing, he functioned as a strategic-planner, a research intelligence consultant as well as an IT innovation program manager. Then, he contributed and project managed IT innovation programs to develop research and policy development competencies. Some of his accomplishments include hatching several leading-edge government proof-of-concept trials through in-depth market analyses, government procurement management, change implementation and bench-marking tools. In addition, he functioned as a core IT industry sensing and dissemination expert through extensive industry partnerships and communications management. Gerald was also seconded as an e-government advisory staff with IDA-International where he participated in international business development efforts, e-government master-planning consultancies, as well as ICT infrastructure review and benchmarking advisories. Gerald was previously from IDC between the years 2007 and 2011. Then, he served as a Senior Market Analyst for both IDC Government Insights and IDC Health Insights in the Asia Pacific, covering enterprise IT research for governments, healthcare and education verticals. Gerald specialized in both supplier and end-user consulting advisories for eGovernment strategies, policy and IT master-planning, and emerging enterprise technologies assimilation for trans-formative governments. He is also familiar with healthcare-informatics in both provider and payer landscapes and understands vendor IT strategies in various eHealth solution areas. Prior to that, Gerald was an Assistant Editor for Futuregov Magazine, a Pan Asian government business news publication. Then, he took on responsibilities covering both journalistic pursuits and editorial management. He started his first job upon graduation as an active partner with a local SME (small-medium enterprise) selling web solutions and IT consultancies for two years. Gerald is a linguistics graduate from the National University of Singapore. He also possesses a Business (IT) Masters (with distinction) degree from RMIT University.
