Ken Wei is appointed as the Consul (Infocomm) of the Singapore Consulate-General in Shanghai and Centre Director (China), Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore in October 2012. He is responsible for driving bi-lateral collaborations between China and Singapore in the infocomm technology sector, and facilitating bi-lateral partnerships as well as spearheading investment opportunities between the industries in both countries.

Ken has over 18 years of diverse infocomm management experience spanning both private and public sectors that include hospitality, healthcare, media, logistics and human resources.   He started his career as a software engineer for a hospitality software company and progressed to be the Vice President, Marketing of Catcha Group, a diverse media group listed in the Malaysian bourse, before joining IDA as the Senior Manager for E-Commerce in 2001.   

While at IDA, he has initiated several nationwide initiatives that aim to help transform the infocomm, trade and logistics industries.  Highlights of some key projects in Singapore include the Infocomm Industry Productivity Roadmap, the TradeXchange initiative, the e-Supply Chain Management (eSCM) Assessment Programme and the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Programme. 

In between his stints at IDA, Ken was also the Centre Manager for the Neptune Orient Lines  Advanced Technology Centre and was responsible for the evaluation, pilot and recommendation of new technologies for NOL and its customers.  He also represented NOL in several global technology standard bodies such as the EPCglobal and World Shipping Council’s IT Committee.To share his passion for infocomm, Ken is also an adjunct lecturer for Information Systems at the Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI).
