2014 Guest Speaker

Mr. William Wai received Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and Master of Social Sciences from Chinese University of Hong and The University of Hong Kong respectively.

He has worked in different fields, including Culture & Education, Media, Entertainment Production, Consultancy, IT etc. He has been engaged in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry since the 90s for international telecommunications business and data centre services. He has been active in international carriers business and data centre industry since then.

Currently, he serves as the Senior Vice President of HKCOLO and the Director of HKCOLO.NET. Before joining HKCOLO, he has taken up different positions in both local and foreign-based companies, either private or listed.

He has been invited to be the speaker for a variety of events for the past decade during his work in the data centre industry with data centre business as the main topic. He emphasizes co-operation and co-ordination are needed although healthy competition among IDC operators is normal. He has lined up the IDC operators in Hong Kong to fight for the benefit of the industry and to make Hong Kong become the hub of the telecommunications and data centre in the Asia Pacific. He was formerly the Vice Chairman of Asia Data Centre Alliance (ADCA), and now the Chairman of this alliance.

In addition, he is also the Director of Worldwide Inter-Cloud Association (WWICA). Apart from working for the industry, he is also an elected District Councillor of the HKSAR, serving the community at the same time.
